The strength of aeronautical mechanical components is a constant concern. Titanium alloys are massively used when the part is subjected to severe tri-axial mechanical stresses, and the need for lightness becomes a major concern. Unfortunately, titanium alloys are also notorious for machining problems, with severe adhesion and heating phenomena. In this context, the risks of residual tensile stresses and changes in its metallurgical state are major. In order to optimize titanium machining productivity and component reliability, we welcome @Frikha Oumaima as a Final Year Project at ENI Sfax. She is studying the influence of the TA6V titanium face milling process on surface integrity using MISULAB. The results of this work should be of interest to many manufacturers of safety components.
